In the words of Kool and the Gang, "Celebrate good times, come on, it 's a celebration," the 77's win their home opener 7-5 over the Brock Bucks.
Ladies and gentlemen hold on to your regular seats at the Guthrie Barn for the remainder of the Oro Medonte 77's season or you will miss history in the making.
History you say? Yes history, The 77's have the nucleus to go all the way. The home opener was the first time the 77's have had every rostered player at the game and playing in their regular positions. The first 3 games of the year were played on the road and forwards were playing defence and although they gave it the old college try, it was noticeable they were like fish out of water. The return of 6"5" 210lb Mac Koopmans from a suspension, and the addition of 6' 4" 205lb Kale Barr Kelowna BC, 6" 170lb Ryan Cook and the return of 6'3" 220lb Reid Goobie from injury has solidified the defence corp. The results of a solid offensive and defensive roster reflected in a very decisive 7-5 win. Give these boys a few games to get accustomed to each other and they will be unstoppable.
Coach Jeff Stack stated, "I was very happy with the play. We played a good 50 minutes of the 60 minute hockey game. The forwards played well but we have some tweaking and refining systems and getting use to each other. The veterans stepped up and played like veterens and rookie Myles Neuneker was pumped getting his first goal. The defence played strong and dominated except about 10 minutes which allowed the Bucks to get 4 goals in the 3rd period."
